Animal Therapy
Healing doesn't always happen in a counselling room.
At Duke House, some of our best therapists have four legs... and a few have feathers!
From Alfie, our much-loved therapy dog, to our affectionate cats, gentle sheep, friendly chickens and even our resident eels, every animal plays a part in helping young people feel safe, calm and connected.
Animal therapy is a cornerstone of the healing environment at Youth in Transition. Sometimes, a wagging tail, a gentle nuzzle or simply sitting quietly with an animal can open the door to conversations that otherwise feel impossible.
Because healing begins where young people feel safe.
