Final Working Bee for 2025

Saturday marked our final working bee of the year at Duke House, and what a special morning it was.

Together, we rolled up our sleeves — clearing around the houses, weedeating, tending to our sensory garden, and even finishing a new seat for the young people who will use the peaceful space in their healing.

These mornings are never just about maintenance … they’re about preserving the serene, safe, and tranquil environment which allows young people to feel grounded, supported, and cared for when they arrive at Duke House.

Our Duke House team has shown extraordinary commitment this year, meeting at 7am once a month to ensure this sanctuary continues to thrive. Our loyal supporters returned month in/month out plus we’ve welcomed new volunteers to the team. Their loyalty, care, and heart have made a profound difference.

We are especially grateful to the amazing organisations who have supported these working bees. The teams at Woolworths New Zealand Silverdale and Bunnings Warehouse New Zealand Silverdale have gone above and beyond, consistently donating in-kind resources which make these mornings possible. Your ongoing support, belief in our mission, and contributions of goods and materials help us maintain Duke House as a place of safety, comfort, and healing for young people and their families.

Thank you to every single person who has given their time, energy, and heart this year to Duke House, not only to Saturday mornings but at other times too. What you’ve done for YIT truly matters.
