Working Bee Time
What a day! Massive thanks to everyone who showed up, pitched in, donated gear, and helped make some big improvements around Duke House last week.
A huge shout out to Kennards Hire Silverdale for donating the digger, and Hirepool Ltd Silverdale for donating the concrete saw. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to tackle some major drainage issues around the gardens and pathways - especially in those super wet areas where the mower kept getting stuck!
Our volunteers also put in a huge effort moving more than 6 tonnes of rocks by hand to help protect pathways and reduce flooding. Absolute legends.
Big thanks as well to Errol from Stillwater Arboretum for donating fish for our sensory pond and native tōtara trees to help strengthen the stream banks and bring more life into the space.
And thank you to Rodney Duke for adding the doorway into our donated clothes room - plus bringing the family along to help out in the gardens too.
Every act of kindness, every hour volunteered, and every piece of support helps us create a safer, more welcoming environment for the young people we support.
