Go to Girl Essential Wellness with Natalie Cutler Walsh
During one of our Wednesday night support groups we were fortunate to have Natalie and Louise from Go To Girl Essential Wellness speak to us around the healing benefits of their essential oils range.
Pohutukawa Mural Framing
We have left Whangaparaoa but we were not going to leave our precious tree behind. The team at Orewa Framing Studio have done a awesome job of capturing and framing our tree.

We had such a great day today at event two of the MTF Silverdale Get Moving Festival !! A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in an event, whether it was an easy jog, a challenging run, or a walk and talk with friends and family, you all got moving and were absolutely amazing!
Mural by Stu Duval
We are feeling so blessed! This week we had the pleasure of one of New Zealand’s master storytellers and artists Stu Duval visit our office to paint this amazing mural.
Building and Painting at Manly Offices
We have been busy over the New Years period getting the new office spaces ready for 2019.
New Premises
Youth In Transition offices have relocated to Manly. We will be very sad to leave our beautiful house, which has been a sanctuary to many people over the last four years. However, we look into the new year with excitement, relocating to a bigger space meaning we have a great opportunity to expand, reaching more people within out community.
New Website Launched!
Youth In Transition is extremely fortunate to have had the professional services of Verum Digital to coordinate the design, development and recent launch of our new website.
Sharing one young man’s story
Joe is a young man who has been on his own personal journey with Youth In Transition. It takes a village to raise and nurture a young person – regardless of upbringing and personal circumstances – and our tailored programme can help them to see their lives as worth living again.
Nigel’s legacy
Sadly, on the 25th September 2018, we lost our Chairman Nigel Rigg after his long battle against cancer. Nigel was so much more than our Chair – he was our beloved friend, tireless champion and humble benefactor.
Merry Christmas from Youth in Transition 2018
Youth In Transition wants to say THANK YOU for your involvement in the Trust whether in the way of physical help, monetary support or simply showing an interest. Thank you for helping to make a tangible difference in young peoples lives.
POP UP OP SHOP FUNDRAISING EVENING Held December 2nd at Whangaparaoa Hall
A HUGE THANK YOU to our dedicated team headed by Phina and Caitlin, who organised this event, collected all the clothes and goods for sale, and ran the evening.
Meeting with Whangaparaoa Police
Youth in Transition had the privilege of meeting recently with police from the local Whangaparaoa branch. The aim of this meeting was to share experiences of our work relating to youth in our community, to see where we were already successfully working together, and to see what we would could be doing better.
Millwater Ladies Group
A Big Thank You to the Millwater Ladies Group for providing much need supplies to Youth In Transition. Along with the consumable daily items, such as tissues, tea, coffee, cookies, soup etc., they kindly provided a bag of new clothes to give to our young people. Your care is heart-warming and appreciated.
A meeting with the Mental Health Inquiry team
In mid June 2018, we were able to meet with the team from the Mental Health Inquiry. This was a powerful and exciting opportunity to share Youth In Transition’s philosophies and successes.
Rotary Swimarathon
In a truly herculean effort, Youth In Transition swam 171 lengths of the Stanmore Bay leisure centre pool in one hour. Megan Butler and Mark Butler swam the majority of the lengths, while Clifford Jones, Hannah Longley and Grayson Nipper failed to avoid being lapped by school children in the adjacent lane. It was a fun day and a great fundraiser for Youth in Transition and Hibiscus Coast Youth Centre.
Guest speaker: Jimi Hunt
We were privileged to have Jimi Hunt as a guest speaker for us in June 2017. Jimi is known for ‘lilo-ing down the Waikato River to raise awareness of depression’, creating ‘the worlds biggest waterslide’ and for his inspiring charity called Live More Awesome. Jimi works tirelessly to inspire others who are struggling with their mental health, through innovative ideas such as his free mental health reset programmes and his general holistic, no bullsh*t approach to life and wellbeing.
