Green Thumbs & Big Jobs

Green thumbs, big jobs and plenty of teamwork at Duke House! Our October working bee brought together a brilliant bunch of green thumbs from all around, and they certainly didn’t muck around! There was a LOT happening at Duke House:

  • Roof repairs, thanks to the legends at Sherwill and Mackay

  • Lawns mown and weeds sprayed

  • Windows and buildings washed

  • Pathway stones spread

  • An old hot water cylinder removed

  • Plum trees planted

  • Compost bins turned over

  • Breakfast provided by our friends Love Soup Hibiscus Coast

  • Fresh eggs collected from our very own chickens

  • Eels fed with the leftovers (because waste not!)

  • Big jobs like these take plenty of hands, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped make Duke House a better place.

Got a green thumb? Or just enjoy getting stuck into a good outdoor job? Come and join us! Our working bees are held on the first Saturday of every month, and there’s always a big breakfast provided to fuel the hard work.

Come along, meet some great people, get your hands dirty and help make Duke House an even better place for our young people finding their way back to awesome.

We’d love to have you!
