MHAW - Reach Out

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week in Aotearoa. And it’s an opportunity for us to remember that everyone deserves to feel they belong. To feel accepted, supported and valued for who they are. But for vulnerable young people, life can sometimes feel isolating. When you're struggling, finding your place and believing in your future can be hard.

That's why Youth in Transition created Journey Back to Awesome (JBA). A programme to help young people rebuild confidence, develop life skills and discover that they don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.

JBA brings together five key components:

  1. Professional counselling - working through challenges.

  2. Lifestyle coaching - building healthy habits and balance.

  3. Family support - connecting with services that help.

  4. Individual mentoring - having someone in your corner.

  5. Support groups - friendship, skills and shared experiences.

Throughout this week, we'll share simple ways that you too, can look after your own mental health.

YOUR TIP FOR TODAY: Reach out to someone who might be feeling left out. Invite them for a coffee, start a conversation or simply let them know they're welcome. Because belonging isn't just about fitting in. It's knowing you matter.

At Youth in Transition, we help young people find their way back to awesome - one connection at a time. There's a range of activities being held around the country this week to raise awareness of how you can support your mental health. Find out more here: https://mhaw.nz/
